First, define “perfect” honestly
No sensitivity makes every FPS task effortless and no short test can prove a permanent biological optimum. A practical “perfect sensitivity” is the strongest setting supported by your own comparison, on your own hardware, under the conditions you care about.
That definition is useful because it replaces endless opinion with a decision you can explain and revisit later.
1. Record the baseline
Write down active DPI, polling rate, base in-game sensitivity and any acceleration behavior. Use the eDPI and cm/360 calculator to create a portable record. Also note mouse weight, pad space and grip if they recently changed.
2. Test ranges that are meaningfully different
Microscopic adjustments create noisy comparisons. Start with your current sensitivity as the control, then test a clearly lower and clearly higher range. Calika uses ±18% because the conditions remain playable while being distinct enough to compare.
If you change DPI, task order, warm-up or hardware between rounds, you are no longer comparing sensitivity alone.
3. Control order and fatigue
People improve as they learn a task and decline as they tire. A fair test uses the same instructions, duration and rest pattern. It also avoids giving one setting the permanent advantage of always being tested first or last.
4. Measure more than one aiming skill
One drill may reward speed, target size or movement behavior that favors a particular sensitivity. Include several demands:
- Precision and stopping control
- Smooth tracking
- Reactive direction changes
- Target switching
- Large and small movement windows
A combined result is harder for one lucky run to dominate.
5. Separate score from confidence
A winner by 0.2% and a winner by 12% should not produce the same certainty. Report whether the lead is low, medium or high confidence. When results are close, keeping the current value may be the most reasonable decision.
6. Lock the result long enough to learn
Once the comparison supports a setting, stop reopening the menu after every poor match. Give the value time to become ordinary. Recalibrate when hardware, available mouse space or game demands change, not when a single session damages confidence.
Calculators, converters and trainers answer different questions
A converter preserves physical turning distance. An eDPI calculator describes a setup. An aim trainer builds skill. A calibration compares settings. They are complementary tools, but they should not make claims outside the question they actually answer.
