Why Apex sensitivity is a tradeoff
Longer time-to-kill makes smooth target tracking more important than in many tactical shooters. At the same time, movement abilities and close fights demand quick turns. A sensitivity that looks excellent in a static drill can still break down during strafing or rapid target switches.
Use cm/360 to understand the setup
Apex uses the familiar Source-engine hipfire scale, so cm/360 is a useful way to compare physical turning distance with CS2. eDPI still helps document your Apex setup, but raw eDPI should not be compared blindly with games using different sensitivity scales.
ADS multipliers, optics and field of view add additional variables. Establish a stable base sensitivity before tuning scoped behavior.
A practical Apex testing sequence
- Record DPI, base sensitivity, polling rate and FOV.
- Test smooth tracking against predictable movement.
- Test reactive tracking and direction changes.
- Test target switching and a close-range turn.
- Repeat the same sequence at lower, current and higher sensitivities.

Signs your base sensitivity deserves a test
- You regularly overshoot after rapid turns.
- You can acquire targets quickly but corrections look noisy.
- Tracking is stable at range but close fights require repeated lifts.
- You change sensitivity after almost every difficult session.
- You copied a value without accounting for DPI or mouse space.
Keep expectations honest
Sensitivity does not replace practice, positioning or recoil control. A calibrated value removes one recurring source of doubt. The work of building consistent mechanics still belongs to the player.
